Restoran Hau Yi

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
A seafood restaurant recommended by friend...
Not very hard to find if u have the map as it is located on a one-way street facing the main road
We arrived around 7pm and the restaurant is almost full luckily we had our reservation done earlier ~

Table setting:

Fried Glass Noodle (RM10):
Since there are eight adults and seven kids we ordered two of this
the fried glass noodle is the signature dish here...
it is dry and not very oily while the glass noodles is springy and flavoursome ~ very good Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Rice (RM1):
for some who cant go without rice the fluffy white rice is being ordered...

Steamed Clams with Red Wine (RM16):
served in a very big plate...
the shells are huge but not the clams
we find the clams very soft and lack the firmness of the fresh type

Belacan Fried Kangkong (RM12):
this is only so so... with very mild belacan taste

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Steamed Prawns (RM76/kg):
we had a kg of this and more than half of us had two prawns
they are so fresh and succulent...
the meat also very firm and bouncy ~ delicious
when we almost finished the prawns we realised that under the bunch of chinese parsley is actually a steamed egg with yolk... something different

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Steamed Sea Bass/Siakap Teow Chew Style (RM60):
this must be a very big fish...
we only have half the fish
the meat is thick and sweet unfortunately a little bit over cooked which is still acceptable by us ~

Steamed Roe Crabs (RM35/kg):
we ordered 4 kg of these served in three big plates...
the roe crabs are of decent size however not all of them are with roe
the texture and color are not as solid as those we had last week...
but they still taste good ~

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Deep Fried Soft Shell Crabs (RM45/kg):
We had 2kg of these...
the soft shell crabs are very much bigger than those we used to get
according to the owner these crabs are changing their shells naturally unlike some commercialised soft shell crab which was added with chemical to make them change shells
for this type of soft shell crabs the main shell and body are soft and can be eaten completely but the legs and claws are still hard... we wonder why ~

after not very long ~
